Lady Titan Roster for 11-12

Try-outs for the Lady Titans Varsity and Junior Varsity basketball teams will begin Monday, November 2 at McDowell High. Practice for any ninth or tenth grader interested in playing will begin at 3:30 with varsity practice starting at 6:00. You must have a current physical to try out for the team.

Lady Titan basketball coach Jennifer Brooks was inducted to the Montreat College Hall of Fame on October 4th at a ceremony on campus. Brooks, the all-time leading scorer in Montreat basketball history was one of four members of the class of 2009. Coach Brooks has served as the head Junior Varsity and Assistant Varsity basketball coach since graduating from Montreat. Brooks played her high school basketball at McDowell where she was a member of back to back state runner-up teams. Congratulations to Coach Brooks.

Lady Titan wing player Autumn Ward has committed to accept a scholarship offer to play basketball for Mars Hill college and head coach Jen Nance. Ward is entering her senior season at McDowell high school as a four year member of the varsity basketball team, a two time all-conference selection, and the team's leading scorer from the '08-'09 season.

Pre-season conditioning for any young lady planning to play varsity basketball will begin on Monday, September 28 at 3:45. Conditioning sessions will be held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3:45 through October 23rd.

The Lady Titan Basketball Program had a successful summer. Over 75 young ladies ages 5-13 attended basketball camp at McDowell High at the beginning of June. After two weeks of practice, The Lady Titans attended camps at Mars Hill college and Presbyterian College where they compiled a summer record 14-0 against some very tough competition. August is a dead period for winter sports but the coaches and players are looking forward to the start of preseason workouts and play. The first official day of practice is set for November 2.
